Tyreek Hill detained by police for minor traffic violation ahead of Dolphins' opener; WR plans to play vs. Jaguars

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained by police for a minor traffic violation ahead of Sunday's season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team said.

Hill was released by police, is in the stadium and will play against Jacksonville, Drew Rosenhaus, Hill's agent, told 国产外流网Network.

Hill was taken to the ground by police outside Hard Rock Stadium and handcuffed for five minutes before being released from custody, 国产外流网Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on 国产外流网GameDay Morning.

"This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police. He has since been released," the Dolphins said in a statement. "Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today's game."

The Miami-Dade Police Department said it will conduct an "immediate review" of the incident.

"We are aware of the recent detainment of Miami Dolphins player Tyreek Hill by Miami-Dade Police Department officers," director Stephanie V. Daniels said in a statement. "I have requested an immediate review of all details surrounding the incident, and we are also reviewing available body camera footage. We will provide updates as further information becomes available."

Rosenhaus called the incident "very upsetting" and said Hill was "very upset" but OK ahead of Sunday's game.

"To see my client in my handcuffs, some of the video that we're seeing is unnecessary," Rosenhaus told 国产外流网Network's Cameron Wolfe on 国产外流网GameDay Morning. "There's no reason that Tyreek should've been treated that way."

Hill was not among the Dolphins' inactives for Sunday's game vs. the Jags. Hill, 30, is entering his ninth season in the league.
