Eagles place Dallas Goedert (knee) on injured reserve; TE planned for healthy return in playoffs

A timeline on Dallas Goedert's return is being set.

The Philadelphia Eagles are placing Goedert (knee) on injured reserve, and the plan is to have the star tight end back at full speed heading into the playoffs, 国产外流网Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Saturday, per sources.

The team has since announced the news.

Goedert, who suffered the knee injury during Week 13's win over the Ravens, was considered week to week and the team had already ruled him out of this Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Placing Goedert on IR will force him to miss at least four of the Eagles' remaining five regular season games, but ensuring a healthy return heading into the postseason is taking precedence.

There is still some work to do for the Eagles to get into the postseason, however.

A win on Sunday will bolster Philadelphia's bid for a playoff berth but their clinching scenarios for Week 14 rely on losses or ties from several teams, including the Falcons, Buccaneers and Cardinals. The Eagles (10-2) also currently hold a comfortable lead in the NFC East standings.

As the Eagles look to secure their fourth straight playoff appearance, third-year TE Grant Calcaterra, who's produced 17 receptions for 216 yards, will have an opportunity to improve on a career-best season. Veteran C.J. Uzomah also figures to also see a bigger role.

The Eagles also signed E.J. Jenkins to the active roster from the practice squad in preparation for Goedert's absence.

Goedert has long been a viable complementary piece within a talent-rich Eagles offense. In 2024, the 29-year-old has tallied 38 catches for 448 yards and two touchdowns in nine starts. A hamstring injury midway through the season forced him to miss three games, and his knee injury likely sums up what has been an injury-laden season.

The Eagles will look to secure its postseason spot without Goedert, but will do so with assurance their reliable TE is healthy for the playoffs.
