Ran Carthon will not be helping the Tennessee Titans make the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 国产外流网Draft.
The Titans announced on Tuesday that they have fired the general manager after two seasons.
"I've loved the time I've spent with Ran. He's a talented football mind, a great man, and friend to everyone along his path," owner Amy Adams Strunk said a statement. "It's impossible to ignore that our football team hasn't improved over the past two years. I am deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period, of course, but my decision also speaks to my concern about our long-term future should we stay the course.
"I love this team more than you can imagine. To our fans: we know this level of performance isn't acceptable. We're humbled by your support as we continue to work towards building the team you expect and deserve."
Brian Callahan will remain head coach, the team announced.
President of football operations Chad Brinker will lead the general manager search.
Carthon joined the Titans in 2023 after he spent six seasons in San Francisco. He added executive vice president to his general manager title in 2024.
Tennessee hired Carthon in the wake of firing Jon Robinson during the 2022 season. At the time, they retained former head coach Mike Vrabel. Last year, Tennessee parted ways with Vrabel but kept Carthon on board and expanded his influence. The dance continues in 2025, with the club moving forward with Callahan but now searching for a new GM.
The Titans went 9-25 in two seasons under Carthon, finishing last in the AFC South both years. This year's 3-14 record earned Tennessee the top pick in April's draft.
"Ran had very different circumstances over the last two years in terms of his role," team president and CEO Burke Nihill said in a statement. "At the end of the day, this is a results-oriented business. Amy's assessment is we needed to make a change."
While Tennessee will bring in a new GM to work collaboratively with Callahan, Nihill noted in speaking with the team's official website that Brinker would "break ties" with respect to the 53-man roster.
