Chris Olave's second concussion suffered in 2024 has sidelined him since the end of New Orleans' Week 9 loss to Carolina.
He has returned to the team facility but isn't participating in practice. There is good news, though: Olave is in a much better spot now than he was a few weeks ago.
"He's still going through that whole process," interim coach Darren Rizzi said Tuesday, . "He's met with a bunch of people, he's got another meeting coming up here next week. He's met with some different specialists throughout the country. ... He's in a good place.
"Him and I the last couple days had great conversations. He's feeling a lot better. With that kind of injury, you just want to make sure you're doing the right thing by the person. ... We'll have a lot more information on him next week."
Olave is eligible to come off injured reserve for New Orleans' Week 15 game against the Commanders.
Although he's progressing, the Saints understandably aren't committing to Olave returning to action in 2024. With two concussions suffered in this season alone, football simply isn't a top priority for the receiver, who recorded 32 catches for 400 yards and one touchdown in eight games this year.
New Orleans' season isn't calling for a rushed return for Olave, either. At 4-7, the Saints are not yet out of the running but would essentially need to extend their two-game winning streak through the end of the regular season and enjoy some good luck regarding their division rivals in order to reach the playoffs.
