Patriots' Jabrill Peppers arrested Saturday on assault, possession charges

New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested on Saturday morning on assault and cocaine possession charges, Braintree (Mass.) police confirmed to NFL.com.

Police said Monday in a statement that it responded to a disturbance at a residential address early on Oct. 5, with the caller indicating an altercation between two people. Peppers was arrested after an ensuing investigation. The victim of the alleged altercation was treated by emergency medical services at the scene.

Peppers will be charged with assault and battery; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; strangulation; and possession of a Class "B" substance believed to be cocaine, police said.

The Patriots defensive back appeared for his arraignment on Monday at Quincy District Court and entered pleas of on the charges, according to The Associated Press. Peppers' next court date is scheduled for Nov. 22.

Peppers, who turned 29 on Friday, did not play in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins as he dealt with a shoulder injury. After initially being listed as questionable, he was downgraded Saturday to out for New England's Week 5 game.

"He called me that morning. I knew what was going on," Patriots coach Jerod Mayo told reporters Monday morning. "We've informed the 国产外流网of what was going on and we're still gathering information."

The Patriots said in a statement: "We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend in which the police are currently investigating. We will have no further comment at this time."

The 国产外流网said it was "aware of the matter" and was in contact with the Patriots.

The eighth-year defensive back is in his third season in New England. Through four games in 2024, Peppers has tallied 23 tackles, two passes defensed and an interception.
