Week 5 was truly one for the books! Sunday treated fans to 15 hours and 27 minutes of football action, the longest day of ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷Íøgames since at least the 1970 merger, per ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷ÍøResearch. Between OT games, multiple 100+-yard touchdowns and this season's first international game in London, there was never a dull moment. Check out the five can't-miss matchups that defined Week 5.
1) Baltimore Ravens 41, Cincinnati Bengals 38
Why you should rewatch:
An early contender for the game of the year, this AFC North rivalry contest featured Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow dueling into overtime. The two quarterbacks stole the show, combining for 740 passing yards and nine touchdowns through the air. Burrow, who tossed a , never stopped throwing punches, but Jackson had a counter for every single one. Down double digits multiple times in the fourth quarter, Jackson, who improved to a 9-1 career record against the Bengals, made magic happen late. Jackson’s improbable to Isaiah Likely punctuated a stretch in which Baltimore and Cincinnati traded touchdowns on six consecutive second-half drives. Moments like those helped push the game to OT, where a three-play sequence sucked the air out of Paycor Stadium. A missed would-be game-winning FG by Evan McPherson was followed by a 51-yard gallop by Derrick Henry. One snap later, Justin Tucker exorcised his early-season demons to give the Ravens their third straight victory.
2) Atlanta Falcons 36, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30
Why you should rewatch:
On a night when Matt Ryan was enshrined in the Falcons’ Ring of Honor, Kirk Cousins cemented himself among Atlanta’s QB wonders. Cousins went off for a career-high 509 passing yards to break the Falcons’ franchise record for most passing yards in a single game (previously held by Ryan). All 509 of Cousins’ passing yards came from within the pocket, the in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016). Atlanta’s $180 million QB led the Falcons to yet another walk-off win in prime time, continuing to dispell previous notions that he shrinks away from big spotlights. An interception thrown by Cousins with 1:52 left in regulation dwindled Atlanta’s win probability But Cousins and Co. never blinked. Instead, they marched down the field for a 52-yard FG as time expired. In the OT period, Cousins connected with KhaDarel Hodge for a 45-yard game-winner. Atlanta appears to have its swag back and Cousins, who celebrated Thursday’s win by "Swag Surfin" with Falcons fans, is a big reason why. (.)
3) Jacksonville Jaguars 37, Indianapolis Colts 34

This under-the-radar matchup packed an unexpected punch. AFC South rivals Jacksonville and Indianapolis entered Sunday with more questions than answers. For the Colts, would QB Anthony Richardson play through a lingering hip injury? For the Jaguars, how could they earn their first win of the 2024 season? Veteran QB Joe Flacco started in place of Richardson and threw for 359 yards and three touchdowns, while leading Indianapolis on an incredible comeback bid, scoring 14 points in three minutes tie the game late. But Trevor Lawrence, playing on his birthday, had other ideas. Lawrence answered the call -- and Jacksonville’s question -- by setting up the Jaguars for a 49-yard game-winning FG in the closing seconds. Both teams posted their highest scoring totals of the season, thanks in major part to highlight-reel scores. Indianapolis and Jacksonville combined for three touchdowns of 65+ yards and Jaguars rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr. reached a top speed of 22.15 mph on his , good enough for the this season, per Next Gen Stats.
4) Arizona Cardinals 24, San Francisco 49ers 23
Why you should rewatch:
The Cardinals might have shocked everyone but themselves on Sunday. Down by 13 at the half, Arizona stormed back to upset the reigning NFC champions at Levi’s Stadium. Kyler Murray tallied touchdowns through the air and on the ground, but the Cardinals defense was the unsung hero on Sunday. Arizona forced turnovers on each of San Francisco’s final four drives, handing the 49ers their first with Brock Purdy as QB. Two of those turnovers came in Cardinals’ territory, while all but the last led to points for Arizona (Kyzir White’s final interception set up Murray to kneel from victory formation). Jonathan Gannon’s squad and it worked as Purdy completed just one of six passes (and threw a game-sealing interception) under pressure, per . It was a statement win that vaulted the Cardinals above the 49ers in the NFC West standings.
5) Houston Texans 23, Buffalo Bills 20
Why you should rewatch:
Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs’ first meeting since Diggs' trade out of Buffalo placed both players in the spotlight. The latter, who was out to show he is still a No. 1 receiving threat, had to prove it on Sunday after Texans WR Nico Collins left the game with a hamstring injury. Diggs answered and stepped up to lead Houston in receiving. It wasn’t as glamorous a day for Allen. The Bills QB has jostled for position within the league’s early MVP candidates, but the Texans kept him in check. Houston held Allen to just nine completions for 131 passing yards and a career-low 30% completion rate. What’s more is the Texans prevented Allen from landing his signature deep ball. DeMeco Ryans’ defense stymied Allen into one completion on 15 attempted passes of 10+ air yards, the lowest completion percentage on such passes (6.7%) in Allen’s career (minimum five such dropbacks), per . Allen still nearly led Buffalo to a comeback win from 17 points down, but questionable clock management paved the way for a 59-yard walk-off FG by Ka'imi Fairbairn for the home team. (.)
