The Washington Football Team will be without one of their top pass rushers for at least the next three games.

Montez Sweat was placed on injured reserve with a jaw injury, the team announced Saturday. Washington will have 21 days to decide whether to activate Sweat or return him back to IR.

Sweat has been dealing with a fractured jaw which kept him out of practice all week. The defensive end had already been ruled out for Sunday's home game versus the Buccaneers. Sweat is second on the team with four sacks this season.

In a corresponding move, Washington signed DE Bunmi Rotimi to the active roster from the practice squad.

Injuries/COVID-19

  • Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods suffered a torn ACL in Friday's practice and will miss the remainder of the 2021 season, ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷ÍøNetwork's Tom Pelissero reports.
  • Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was activated from the reserve/COVID list and will start versus the Seahawks, as reported by Pelissero. Cornerback Isaac Yiadom was also activated from the reserve/COVID list.
  • The New England Patriots put linebacker Jamie Collins on injured reserve due to an ankle injury and activated offensive tackle Trent Brown off injured reserve. Brown has not played since the season-opener. Tight end Matt LaCosse and defensive lineman Tashawn Bower were also elevated to the active roster. Running back Damien Harris (concussion) and wide receiver Gunner Olszewski (concussion) have been downgraded to out versus the Browns.
  • The Tennessee Titans placed wide receiver Julio Jones on injured reserve.
  • Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup has been activated from injured reserve. The team also announced kicker Lirim Hajrullahu was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster, meaning K Greg Zuerlein remains out while on the reserve/COVID list. Defensive tackle Trysten Hill was also activated from the PUP list.
  • Buffalo Bills running back Zack Moss has cleared concussion protocol, the team announced. Listed as questionable versus the Jets, Moss practiced on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday, but clearing protocol is the final hurdle toward making an appearance on Sunday.
  • Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds is being placed on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain, according to Pelissero. Edmonds will miss at least the next three games but there is optimism for his return by season's end, Pelissero added. The team has since announced the news.
  • Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and cornerback M.J. Stewart Jr. have been activated from injured reserve.
  • Atlanta Falcons pass rusher Dante Fowler has been activated from injured reserve, the team announced Saturday. Fellow pass rusher Steven Means is being placed injured reserve and will be out versus the Cowboys. The team also downgraded tight end Lee Smith and defensive end Jonathan Bullard from doubtful to out for Sunday.
  • Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Kenneth Murray was activated from injured reserve. Cornerback Ryan Smith was placed on IR in a corresponding move.
  • Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chidobe Awuzie has been activated from the reserve/COVID list.
  • Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Michael Pierce (elbow) has been placed on injured reserve.
  • Carolina Panthers safety Juston Burris and wide receiver Brandon Zylstra have been activated from injured reserve.
  • New York Jets punter Braden Mann and offensive lineman Conor McDermott were activated from injured reserve. The team also placed OL Chuma Edoga on IR. Tight ends coach Ron Middleton will not coach due to COVID-19 protocols, the team also announced. Offensive assistant Billy VandeMerkt will handle his responsibilities.
  • The Detroit Lions placed kicker Austin Seibert (right hip) on injured reserve.

Roster moves

  • The Cleveland Browns elevated running back Brian Hill from the practice squad to the active roster. Wideout JoJo Natson, fullback Johnny Stanton and cornerback Herb Miller were elevated to the active roster as COVID-19 replacements. The team also waived defensive tackle Andrew Billings.
  • The Arizona Cardinals are signing running back Tavien Feaster to the active roster after placing Edmonds on IR, per Pelissero. The team also elevated long snapper Beau Brinkley and wide receiver Greg Dortch to the active roster from the practice squad.
  • The Minnesota Vikings activated safety Myles Dorn and cornerback Tye Smith from the practice squad to the active roster as COVID-19 replacements.
  • The Pittsburgh Steelers elevated wide receiver Steven Sims from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game versus Detroit.
  • The New York Jets elevated tight end Kenny Yeboah, fullback Nick Bawden, defensive end Hamilcar Rashed Jr. and DE Ronnie Blair from the practice squad to the active roster.
  • The Carolina Panthers elevated offensive lineman Mike Horton from the practice squad to the active roster.
  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers elevated wideout Breshad Perriman and tight end Darren Fells from the practice squad to the active roster.
  • The Detroit Lions elevated kicker Ryan Santoso from the practice squad to the active roster.
  • The Los Angeles Chargers elevated linebacker Cole Christiansen, wide receiver Maurice French and cornerback Kiondre Thomas from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game.

Fines

  • New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was not fined for unnecessary roughness when grabbing Panthers defensive end Brian Burns' ankle after a fumble last week, according to ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷ÍøNetwork Insider Ian Rapoport.
  • Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey was fined $10,300 for unsportsmanlike conduct last week.
  • New Orleans Saints linebacker Kwon Alexander was fined $6,264 for unsportsmanlike conduct last week.
  • Indianapolis Colts linebacker E.J. Speed was fined $5,124 for unsportsmanlike conduct last week.
  • Cleveland Browns defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was not fined for a late hit on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow last week, according to Rapoport. However, Browns defensive tackle Jordan Elliott was fined $5,793 twice in the ensuing skirmish.
