Jets QB Zach Wilson suffers knee injury in preseason opener; will undergo MRI on Saturday

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson left Friday's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a knee injury and will await an MRI on Saturday to determine its severity.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh said after his team's 24-21 win he had no update.

"We're going to wait on the MRI tomorrow," Saleh said, adding that Wilson's ACL was "supposed to be intact," but he won't know anything definitively until Saturday.

The Brigham Young product's departure came after he on a first-quarter play. Wilson, who was not contacted on the play, came up limping, seemingly favoring his right leg, and left for the locker room. He was replaced by backup QB Mike White.

New York later ruled Wilson questionable to return with a knee injury, but he never reentered the game.

The team is already reeling from former first-round pick offensive tackle Mekhi Becton likely being lost for the year with a fractured kneecap and the loss of Wilson would obviously be another massive blow for the team.

Wilson, the 2021 国产外流网Draft's No. 2 overall pick, is entering his second season with the Jets. As a rookie in 2021, he was 3-10 as a starter with 2,334 yards passing, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
