The Giants' troubling season took another turn for the worse on Sunday.
New York quarterback Daniel Jones is feared to have suffered a significant knee injury -- potentially a torn ACL -- during New York's 30-6 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders, 国产外流网Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported.
Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters after the game that Jones had an X-ray done at the stadium, and that he'll undergo more tests on Monday.
Jones, who just returned from a three-game absence with a neck injury, had his knee bend awkwardly trying to avoid a sack on the last play of the first quarter. He returned, but on the very next play, his right knee buckled under him again during his dropback.
"He felt like he buckled, and then he was running it off," Daboll said about the two-play sequence. "We went over to him, we talked to him, he said, 'Nah, I'm good,' and then went back in, and it obviously wasn't."
Jones, who was 4 of 9 for 25 yards at the time of his departure, went to the blue medical tent for evaluation before gingerly walking to the locker room. The Giants ruled him out at the beginning of the third quarter.
Tommy DeVito entered the game with Big Blue trailing, 7-0, and saw the deficit grow to 24 by the time Jones' day was officially done.
The undrafted rookie went 15 of 20 for 175 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in relief, unable to power the Giants to a win over the Raiders and Antonio Pierce in his first game as Las Vegas' interim head coach.
Jones was seen walking through the locker room following the game without a limp or crutches, per ESPN's , but the fear remains that he has a significant injury. The QB declined to take any questions from reporters.
The Giants will be bracing for whatever news Monday brings, and with backup Tyrod Taylor already on injured reserve, they could find themselves in a dire quarterback situation.
