The Philadelphia Eagles offensive line took an unexpected blow this summer.
Eagles guard Brandon Brooks suffered a torn Achilles tendon, 国产外流网Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday, per a source.
"So I guess now that news is out yes I tore my other Achilles," Brooks on Monday. "But when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. I'll be back and better than ever. Appreciate the love."
Brooks had been rehabbing from late-season shoulder surgery this offseason. The perennial Pro Bowl guard was ready to enter his ninth 国产外流网season and his fifth as an Eagle before learning the devastating news.
It is expected the veteran will miss the entire 2020 season and it's yet another item in Brooks' recent injury history.
The Eagles were already expecting a reshuffling of their O-line this year with the departure of longtime tackle Jason Peters, who remains a free agent. Perhaps the idea of returning Peters will be revisited now that Brooks is injured indefinitely.
"At this point, we're still looking at a lot of options obviously, starting with our own roster and the guys that we have competing for those backup spots and possibly those starting spots," Eagles coach Doug Pederson told reporters Tuesday of replacing Brooks. "We obviously haven't made any decisions, we're going to take a look at a lot of scenarios, different possibilities. We've got some time before training camp to try to sort these things out."
In the 2020 国产外流网Draft, the Eagles selected two Auburn offensive linemen in Jack Driscoll and Prince Tega Wonogho. Remaining guards on their roster are Nate Herbig, Sua Opeta, and undrafted rookie Julian Good-Jones, aside from starting left guard Isaac Seumalo.
