De'Von Achane's sensational rookie campaign will be put on pause.
The Miami Dolphins running back will miss multiple weeks due to a knee injury, ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷ÍøNetwork Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday, per sources informed of the situation.
The Dolphins have four games before a Week 10 bye -- versus Carolina, at Philly, versus New England, at Kansas City. Achane could be a candidate for injured reserve, knocking him out through the bye week.
Achane was injured in Miami's Week 5 victory over the New York Giants. On the afternoon, he generated 151 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. It marked the rookie's third consecutive game above the 100-yard plateau.
In four games, he's generated 460 yards on 38 carries with five rushing touchdowns and added nine catches for 67 yards and two more scores. Achane has a whopping 12.1 yards per carry average, by far the top in the ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷Íø(Breece Hall No. 2 at 7.2; D'Andre Swift No. 3 at 5.7).
The rookie became the second player in ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷Íøhistory, and first in the Super Bowl era, with seven-plus TDs in his first four career games, per ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷ÍøResearch (Bill Paschal had eight TDs in his first four games in 1943).
Achane became the first Dolphins player with two rushing TDs of 60-plus yards in a single season.
The rookie's speed and second-level burst is breathtaking as he blasts past defenders' angles to turn solid gains into massive ones. He's the perfect fit in Mike McDaniel's scheme, which pressures defense with speed on every level.
Missing Achane is a blow to the Dolphins' big-play ability, but they don't lack for playmakers. Raheem Mostert is no slouch and should see the bulk of the work. Jeff Wilson is also eligible to come off injured reserve this week.
