Cowboys QB Andy Dalton still in concussion protocol

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton remains in concussion protocol.

Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Wednesday he doesn't expect Dalton to be available until the end of the week at the earliest, .

Dalton was able to participate in a team meeting Wednesday morning but hasn't progressed within the protocol to attend position meetings or practice.

Ben DiNucci will take practice reps and be in line to start if Dalton isn't cleared for Sunday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dalton suffered the concussion after taking a shoulder to the helmet from Washington linebacker Jon Bostic in the Cowboys' Week 7 loss.

DiNucci, a seventh-round rookie, attempted three passes, completing two for 39 yards while taking three sacks in 12 snaps Sunday. With Dalton sitting out practices, the rookie will at least get some reps this week. Behind a makeshift offensive line, however, if DiNucci is forced to start, the Cowboys passing attack would need to be curtailed in prime time against the Eagles.

The Cowboys are expected to sign to their practice squad next week once he passes COVID-19 protocols and a physical, ¹ú²úÍâÁ÷ÍøNetwork Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Dallas tendered Rush as a restricted free agent earlier this year and then released him after signing Dalton. The Giants claimed Rush off waivers but cut him before the season.
