Broncos LB Von Miller suffered dislocated peroneal tendon in ankle

Von Miller will soon have a decision to make about his potentially season-ending injury.

An MRI on the Broncos star linebacker revealed a dislocated peroneal tendon, 国产外流网Network Insider Ian Rapoport and 国产外流网Network's Mike Garafolo reported. In layman's terms, Miller's tendon flipped over the ankle bone. Rapoport added the best option for such an injury is usually surgery, with a general recovery time of 5-6 months; a best-case scenario is three months.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio confirmed Miller will be placed on injured reserve. While players have returned within the three-month window, the club is expecting a longer timeframe for its Pro Bowl pass rusher, Garafolo reported. That would perhaps wipe out Miller's entire 2020 season.

He injured his ankle Tuesday during practice and was immediately feared to be out for the year. A consolation with this particular wound, , is that it fully heals and typically doesn't have lasting effects. Miller is scheduled to seek a second opinion from Dr. Robert Anderson in Green Bay on Thursday.

The 31-year-old Miller was said to be rejuvenated heading into Year 10 after posting just eight sacks in 2019.

"He had a hell of an offseason," . "I could tell with the way we were talking that he had a mindset he was going to have a hell of a season."

His comeback campaign will likely have to wait another year.
